2021.10.15 23:15 HighlyOk A power-crept revision for the Archfey Patron, because the standard makes the original print super underwhelming. Thoughts?
Revised Archfey Patron
Expanded Spell List (1st Level)
1st: Faerie Fire, Sleep
3rd: Calm Emotions, Phantasmal Force
5th: Blink, Summon Fey
7th: Greater Invisibility, Phantasmal Killer
9th: Dominate Person, Seeming
Fey Presence (1st Level) You can use your action to enter a trance, channeling the presence of your patron. It lasts for one hour. During this hour, you gain a +1 bonus to all Charisma checks you make towards a creature or group of creatures for every minute that they knowingly interact with you. The maximum bonus that can be accrued by this feature equals your proficiency bonus, and it slowly dissipates down to +0 at a rate of -1 for every ten minutes that pass since you’ve stopped interacting with the creature or group of creatures. You don’t apply this bonus to checks made toward creatures that are immune to the charmed condition. Once you use this feature, you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest, unless you spend a Pact Magic spell slot to do so.
Unseely Nondetection (1st Level) Creatures that take their turn before you on the first round of combat subconsciously erase you from their senses. Creatures have disadvantage on attack rolls against you if they take their turn before you on the first turn of combat.
Beguiling Defences (6th Level) You become immune to the charmed condition. Additionally, whenever a creature attempts to charm you, you can use your reaction to force them to make a Wisdom saving throw against your spell save DC. On a failure, one of three things happen, of your choice: • They suffer psychic damage equal to half your warlock level. • They become frightened of you for one minute. At the end of each of their turns, they can repeat the saving throw to end this effect. It also ends if the creature takes damage. • They become charmed by you for one minute. At the end of each of their turns, they can repeat the saving throw to end this effect. It also ends if the creature takes damage.
Alluring Aegis (6th Level)
Creatures that aren’t immune to the charmed condition treat your AC as equal to your spell save DC unless your AC would be higher by other means.
Misty Escape (10th Level)
When you take damage, you can use your reaction to turn invisible and teleport up to 60 feet to an unoccupied space you can see. You remain invisible until the start of your next turn or until you attack or cast a spell. You can use this feature a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, regaining all expended uses once you complete a long rest.
Dark Delirium (14th Level)
As an action, choose a creature that you can see within 60 feet of you. It must make a Wisdom saving throw against your warlock spell save DC. On a failed save, it is charmed or frightened by you (your choice) for 1 minute or until your concentration is broken (as if you are concentrating on a spell). This effect ends early if the creature takes any damage. Until this illusion ends, the creature thinks it is lost in a misty realm, the appearance of which you choose. The creature can see and hear only itself, you, and the illusion. You must finish a short or long rest before you can use this feature again, unless you spend a Pact Magic spell slot to do so.

2021.10.15 23:15 Serenalisondilauren Books timeline
Does anybody know the books timeline? I was kinda confused because in Twisted (9), by the time the girls went to Jamaica it had been 2 months since Ali was revealed as A. Then we have a time jump of 10 months and the girls are gonna start their senior year! However, they were graduating from junior year when Alison was A (1 year ago), so shouldn’t the girls be graduating from senior year by Twisted? I know I may be missing something, but could you guys explain that to me anyway?

2021.10.15 23:15 dutycyclemusic It’s all about Hopper (maybe..) - Creel House, the clock, and curses..
I had been planning to look into the long case (grandfather) clock seen in the Creel house.. Finally got around to it and then went down a rabbit hole with, what I think, are interesting results. I am feeling more confident than ever that the Creels relate to Hopper (despite the Ives “rose” comment from a few weeks ago.. Ives are still a close second). This question that has gnawed at me, and other fans, about Hopper’s past and any connection to the lab, and now the Creels, I think has some connective tissue finally… The clue that put it over the top for me was, ironically, Sherlock Holmes. It all comes down to a curse.
First, the clock. Since the very first announcement of ST4 we had a clock in the mix- the clock in the tree. It makes me think about the tree portal we saw in S1 with Nancy and Johnathan. (The blood smear on the clock face can be seen as general danger, or was hinting to what seems will be a massacre at the lab per the “Are You Listening?” 002 teaser.)
The clock chimes, I think is marking an “anniversary”. The clock in the lab suggests that a 3:00 event (again, massacre?), and the tree clock a 12:00 event are significant and the chimes must be related.
A sidebar- Creel’s daughter is named Alice. She finds a dead rabbit. Alice in Wonderland I think, where Alice follows a rabbit down the hole- the rabbit is said to be running late for an event, obsessively checking the time.
The clock itself I found is from the 1760s-1780s. The face/ mechanism is English by Thomas Grignion. The case could be English and/ or American- the foot and column seems Grignion as well, but the bonnet/ hood may be American like a John Townsend. It is modified to have a glass window to show the pendulum and weights… creative liberty I assume. The historical significance is curious.. it could go back some time to even pre-American Revolution but certainly to Civil War or Reconstruction times.
Dustin quotes the Sherlock Holmes story The Hounds Of The Baskervilles in the 003 teaser itself. This is not a cute throw away line about the kids sleuthing.. I think there’s more to it. This is the gift that made me really wonder about this.
Could the clock be an Easter egg? Yes. It is. An almost identical one (with a Grignion clock face) appears in the film The Young Sherlock Holmes, which is a movie on the st writers VSF list, reinforcing the Sherlock/ Baskerville proof for me. Mind you, the clock in the film serves no plot-function, nonetheless it is near identical and specific and that is no coincidence.
HOTB’s plot centers on a family curse that is to strike an heir of the estate. Creels inherited the house according to the newspapers. Like most curses, HOTB’s is a revenge curse for evil deeds of a past Baskerville patriarch, here.
So why would the Creels have a “vengeful demon" attack them? Because they are cursed by name and/ or inheritance. Who are the Creels, and therefore the house, related to? I think it is The Hoppers. The Hoppers are “cursed”.
It was Jim Hopper himself in S1 that brought up the idea with his lady-friend Sandra- “You ever feel cursed?” He notes several tragedies “.. missing person summer of ’23.. suicide fall of ’61..” Hopper realized with Will’s disappearance it was happening again.
Hopper pushes Joyce in ST2 to consider the seriousness of trauma relating to anniversaries. Joyce also has a curious response when she says “I want this to be over”, as if it was some protracted event that keeps happening, and not just Will’s health.. It can be taken either way, but is something I note- is Joyce aware of any possible connection to past events that may influence her present?
Hopper also seems obsessed with the idea of being trapped by his circumstances. Calling himself a black hole that sucks things in and destroys them, and in his ST3 letter, describing being stuck in a dark cave or dark hole… He seems resigned to this fact like there’s something wrong with him- a dark cloud over him.
Even The Young Sherlock Holmes movie plot (which is not an Arthur Conan Doyle story) revolves around a curse/ revenge story.. Complete with a string of mysterious murders, and snooping around creepy cobweb covered abodes. If you want to get what I now think are strong ST4 Hawkins vibes give that a movie a watch- as of the time of this writing it is on Amazon Prime.
So is this really a curse as in ghosts and supernatural stuff? No. I think the “curse” is how Hopper (and his family maybe..) interpreted this without initially understanding that it is related to a real world, albeit metaphysical issue. Not spirits per se, but interdimensional monsters and psychic phenomena.A set of circumstances that put events into play by chance. The illogical idea of a real “curse” being disproven for what it is- real human monsters, very much like Sherlock himself try to prove.
So I think the secrets in the “dad” box will connect it all. Not knowing where these items ended up, it could be either Nancy in Hawkins figuring it out, or El in California, if Joyce took his stuff with her.. Hopper even states in ST2 “(the cabin)…belonged to my granddad.. there’s a lot of history here (as he handles the Sara box, another victim of “the curse”)…” Could Hopper’s dad or grandad have, similarly like Hugo Baskerville, set a ”curse” on the Hopper name? That is my guess.
I also think the clock is an artifact from the Hopper family’s past, as is the house. Maybe something happened in the past that manifested in some way to what we know as the upside down. This clock seems will act as a portal and probably does so based on a specific time. Like a stable but temporary open/ close gate.
El is maybe connected to this, but either way she wandered into the void, a “black hole”, and found some manifestation of evil in the Demogorgon.. Could that Demogorgon, or what ever created it, be linked to this “Hopper curse” so that it loops back with connecting El.. and making El a part of what needs to resolve it now..?
Still a lot of questions of course, but the idea of the Creel House curse having Baskerville parallels, and Hopper's "curse" being linked feels more plausible than ever, imo.

2021.10.15 23:15 psychotrader00 Here is a Market Recap for today Friday, October 15, 2021
PsychoMarket Recap - Friday, October 15, 2021
Sorry for not posting the recap yesterday, with the market bouncing so hard decide to take a day off and treat myself!
Stocks rose on Friday, continuing a monster bounce in October that has seen the S&P 500 (SPY) claw back a lot of the losses suffered in September, and finish the week 2% higher. The tech-heavy Nasdaq (QQQ), which fell as much as 8% from its previous peak, closed the week a remarkable 2.65% higher while the Dow Jones (DIA) closed the week 1.49% higher. The Russell 2000 (IWM), which tracks the performance of small-caps, closed the week 1.43% higher. Market participants are encouraged by an unexpected rise in retail sales in the US and a stronger-than-expected start to earnings season, which kicked off this week with big banks reporting.
Not to toot my own horn, but as I have continuously said, I continue to see any dips in the markets as buying opportunities, including this latest dip. While I understood and have written extensively about the current risk factors in the market (China, inflation, supply-chain issues, etc), these are all issues that have been known about and have been affecting the market for months. Just because we see a sudden uptick in “doomsaying” headlines from mass media, doesn’t mean the fundamentals of the bull market in US equities have shifted (remember they are paid for you to engage with the content). Until something fundamentally changes (like inflation forcing the Fed to suddenly hike the interest rate), I continue to stick to my plan. Just be sure to be prepared for any eventuality, I do this by having zero margin in my long-term account and adhering to stop losses in trades.
The Department of Commerce released their monthly report on retail sales, which showed an unexpected rise in consumer spending in September despite supply-chain constraints. Retail sales for the month increased by 0.7%, against the Dow Jones estimate for a decline of 0.2%. Compared with a year ago, sales were up 13.9%. Still despite robust consumer spending, economists warn that supply bottlenecks will increase heading into the holiday season, as demand increases. Sal Guatieri, a senior economist at BMO Capital Markets said, “The solid retail sales report reflects both consumer resilience and escalating prices. The main concern now is that supply-chain disruption and micro-chip shortages appear to be spreading, limiting selection and tamping down goods demand.”
This week's early batch of stronger-than-anticipated quarterly results has helped assuage investors' concerns over a sharp deceleration in corporate profits, especially as expenses mount for companies across industries in the face of higher input and labor costs.
So far, Wall Street analysts are looking for third-quarter earnings growth of about 27% on a year-over-year basis, according to FactSet data. Though this would still be the third-fastest earnings growth rate since 2010, it would be a marked slowdown from the second quarter's nearly 90% pace.

2021.10.15 23:15 patoheroico lenghty post;Advice on overcoming fear of hell/neurology of visions and mysticism
(i Was told to make this post here. hence;im making it here)
i have two issues id like to Adress to go on being an atheist. the main issue is fear of hell after death. Traditional hell is very scary, priests and pastors refuse to stop teaching it, and even if do hate some humans im not specially interested in them going to hell. Human life is bad enough. even buddhists believe in painful hells;how do i overcome the /what if im wrong/ mindset?
another ,different, issue: i 80% believe in catholic religion is the visions and lives of saints and mystics. can NDEs/visions be explained as hallucionations? maybe caused by fasting and vigils for many days? Why do different religions experience different mystical visions, whats the explanation?
